Radiographic Testing: Level 1 (Welds, Castings)

Minimum Industrial Experience: 45 days

The course includes instructor-led training, practical sessions, and structured self-study/homework assignments designed to meet the minimum training hours specified by BINDT.

Note: All students that wish to perform radiography require a valid Basic Radiation Safety (BRS) training for 2 days; this can be included as part of any RT course.

Why Attend This Course?

The PCN Radiographic Testing (RT) Level 1 course combines comprehensive theoretical knowledge with practical training in Radiographic Testing. This PCN Recognised course meets the training requirements specified by the PCN Scheme and provides excellent preparation for the PCN RT Level 1 certification examination. The course is also suitable for employer-based certification schemes such as SNT-TC-1A, EN 4179 and NAS 410.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Set up and operate Radiographic Testing equipment.
  • Perform Radiographic Testing in accordance with written instructions.
  • Produce quality radiographs using appropriate techniques.
  • Record and classify inspection results in accordance with specified acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare inspection reports.
  • Perform inspections under the supervision of PCN Level 2 or Level 3 personnel.
